When you were a kid, were there any early activities that might indicate you’d one day become a skydiver?
I think packing parachutes for my dad’s four-way team every weekend was a pretty good indicator that I would jump someday.
What was the circumstance that led you to make your very first skydive?
I was packing parachutes for my dad’s four-way team one weekend when my dad asked if I would like to do the first jump course that day. I was not mentally prepared whatsoever, but I figured if not now, then when?
What made you want to continue skydiving after your first jump?
I was in love with it from my first jump. There are just so many different things to learn and skills to improve upon!
What’s the best/most memorable skydive you’ve ever made, and what made it so remarkable?
I have so many various skydives that I remember for very different reasons. Most of these skydives were amazing experiences, such as jumping pyrotechnics as the sun rises over the Pacific ocean, training Qatari military officers out of helicopters over the desert in Qatar, and performing pyrotechnic skydives in China.
If you have one, what’s your personal motto/philosophy as it relates to skydiving?
If you want to swim, get out of the boat and into the water. If you want to fly, get out of plane and into the air. Only then will you know why the birds sing and you will always long to return to the sky.
What three words would your colleagues/students use to describe you as a skydiver?
Extremely thorough and has high standards.
Word of Encouragement for First-Time Jumpers:
Just do it. Stop second guessing yourself. Stop coming up with excuses. Stop waiting until later. If you ever had the slightest inclination that you might enjoy it, then stop stalling and just do it! You will love it. Guaranteed.
